Nail Pathogen Panel by rt-PCR

Acupath’s Molecular Nail Pathogen Panel utilizes state-of-the-art rT-PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology to detect 16 different pathogens from a single source within 24-48 hours of receiving the sample in the laboratory. This technology offers accurate and rapid identification of pathogens present in nail samples, enabling timely and effective treatment decisions.

Here’s a breakdown of the advantages of rt-PCR technology over conventional culture techniques:

Accurate Pathogen Identification: rt-PCR accurately identifies the specific pathogens present in the sample by analyzing their genetic material. This precision allows healthcare providers to prescribe appropriate treatments promptly.

Improved Sensitivity and Speed: rt-PCR is 3.5 times more sensitive and 2-3 times faster than traditional culture techniques. It can detect pathogen comorbidities with 98-100% certainty, regardless of microbial growth success.

Reduced False Negatives: By detecting pathogens genotypically, rt-PCR reduces the likelihood of false negative results compared to culture methods.

Enhanced Clinical Confidence: The rapid turnaround time of rt-PCR testing (24-48 hours) aids in quick clinical decision-making, leading to improved patient care and satisfaction.

Reduced Patient Risks and Costs: rt-PCR helps reduce the risk of chronic infections, unnecessary drug exposure, and adverse events. This, in turn, lowers healthcare costs associated with prolonged or ineffective treatments.

Acupath’s Molecular Nail Pathogen Panel offers a reliable, rapid, and accurate method for identifying nail pathogens, improving clinical outcomes, and reducing patient risks and costs associated with fungal infections.

Diagnostic Performance: Featuring the Real-Time PCR QuantStudio 12K Flex System by Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Sample Collection Requirements

It’s essential to collect a sufficient amount of nail and subungual debris (3mm to 6mm) from the most proximal area of the nail and hyponychium. Dry nail samples should be placed into a provided dry-collection specimen vial to ensure proper preservation during transportation to the laboratory.
